Ever find yourself endlessly scrolling the Internet in search of information on the technology you’re using? What if there was a group you could just ask what you’re looking for? The TTP might just be for you!
So who are the TTP? Also known as the Technology Transfer Partners, was formed to help staff members from Academic institutes internationally get the help & advice they needed. To quote their website; “The TTP is an international group of individuals who use Novell, NetIQ, Attachmate, MicroFocus and OpenText technology in their IT implementations. The TTP was started in the mid-1980s with three universities whose goal was to share their networking experiences among themselves, and with the company, in order to leverage the knowledge of their diverse computing environments and give feedback to product teams.”
Strong professional communities are built on collaboration, openness, and a shared commitment to growth. By actively networking among peers, members can form mutually beneficial relationships that go beyond simple connections and evolve into trusted partnerships. Openly sharing both successes and failures creates an environment where collective learning thrives, allowing others to gain insights from real-world experiences and avoid common pitfalls. This exchange of technical knowledge and best practices strengthens the entire community and ensures that everyone benefits from shared expertise.
Mentorship plays a critical role in sustaining this collaborative culture. Through discussion lists, events, white papers, success stories, and articles, experienced members can guide others and contribute to a growing body of shared knowledge. Providing thoughtful, honest feedback, whether to fellow members or to software development teams, helps shape better products and clearer roadmaps for the future. These conversations ensure that innovation is grounded in real user needs rather than assumptions.
Throughout the year, TTP members organise and participate in a range of events designed to pass this knowledge on to others. These events provide opportunities for open discussion, learning, and collaboration, allowing members to explore emerging trends, share best practices, and tackle common issues together. By creating spaces for honest dialogue and shared learning, the TTP community strengthens individual capabilities while advancing the broader technology transfer ecosystem as a whole.
